apparently water lettuce can take over. Wow! I never would have imagined this. Thats a LOT of material to compost.



Same here.I had some once, it died, not enough nutrients for it.

Mine never made it either, gave up on it living here.Same here.

We can’t buy it in Chicago either - so dumb as that and floating hyacinth both turn to mush here as soon as the weather drops below 40 degrees.It was added to Ohio's invasive species list in '23/'24 despite our growing zone & winters.

I think it's beause so many waterways are connected and seeds, etc can move with the birds and currents, even from Chicago southward, perhaps? Here (Tampa, FL area), I've seen it appear in water it hasn't been before and go crazy out of control.
