I have a bright pink water lily. In the picture below its the lily with the redish leaves. Its never really done as well as my purple lily - green leaves - (sorry I don't know the names of these).

A few weeks back it stopped growing. So I took it out of the pond and put in one of my smaller water gardens to see if the water was a problem (two different water sources). It didn't make a difference so I put it back in the pond.

When I first took it from the pond it had roots hanging out of the pot and looked badly root bound. When I checked today I noticed the roots that were hanging out of the pot were gone, so I decided to re-pot it. I started to wash the soil off, BUT the roots just seemed rotten and came off as well. There were a few small healthy looking white roots on the bulb. The leaves are so small they look like the plant has just started growing.

I re-potted it in a large pot, no soil, just rocks weighting it down and put it in the shallow end of the pond.

Any suggestions? What's going on with my lily?

Looks like a tropical, advarius has a bunch of tropical lilies and knows the best way to get them to grow, wait and see if he chimes in.
I only have hardies, which grow from tubers.
