Below is the idea I am using for my waterfall in my continuation of my pond redo. It is not mine, got it from pinterest. However I am a wondering how to accomplish it. What I mean by accomplishing it is how do I prevent water from spilling off the sides as trickles down. Now it appears in the 4th image that dirt is built up along the sides with the line over it with rocks eventually covering the liner.
My concern is, with my previous waterfall, I tried this but over the course of time seems the dirt mounded along the falls would start to 'settle' and allow water to seep from the sides. Is there a particular way to remedy this?

I have done the dirt mound, my bog wall and lower wall of the pond is around 7ish feet tall. I had to mound up the dirt that high to make a level spot for the pond.
When building it, I was worried about settling. So every layer of dirt laid I ran my tractor back and forth over it. Also wet it down to help with the packing. It settled maybe a inch over a years time.

I'll give that a shot. I'll get out there today and start moving dirt now that the rain moved on.

He said it's not his waterfall - just an example.

Based on those pictures, I have no idea how that waterfall isn't losing water.
oopps... USMC another place to look at for building a water fall is u tube . IN particular the pond digger or aquascapes. there you will see some examples of how to properly build a water fall. Being a marine I would think you can handle some larger stones. and they will show you how to make a waterfall that's looks much more realistic.. .

Somehow the images got a little out of order
And the water is kinda pea soupish at this point. Hope that clears up with this filter

Thank you all. I think it came out better than I had anticipated. @GBBUDD , I have a 3000gph pump going 20' though corrugated tubing. Two elbows and maybe 3' tops for the head so I am thinking it's pushing when all is said and done 2000 gph in my 70 gallon skippy filter/water fall.

Now hopefully the pea soup will go away. I have battled this for 2 years. First year I didn't for whatever reason. The idea for doing the skippy filter was to ideally eliminate that.

Lastly this is where my help came from for the waterfall

A little update but more for the bog I ended up doing. Never done a bog. It's 4' X 3' by 1.5 (20 inches) deep. Took 20 bags of pea gravel (still could use a couple more) but it's coming along. Planted Pickerel, cattails, juncus arrow grass and a tiny bit of horsetail rush.
