Hi guys,
Bit of help. I don't recall planting the flowers above...in fact I am positive I didn't...so are they weeds or not?
If so do I need t get rid quickly?

Thanks for any help in advance

That looks like marsh marigolds to me. They are native to us in zone 5 and grow wild in the streams around here.

Marsh Marigold!!!

Lucky for you! I bought like 10 of them throughout the year and they just disappeared.... I gave up.

It's beneficial to your pond, taking up nutrient. So I say leave them :)

Marsh marigolds are among the first plants to bloom in the spring, then they go dormant during the warmer weather. If left undisturbed, they will return next spring. There is a cultivar available in the trade now that flowers again in the fall. For what it's worth, every roadside pond and wet ditch around here is blessed with their bright yellow blooms right now. :)

A weed is just a plant in the wrong spot.
Since that is a pond plant, and it's in your pond, I'd have to say no, it's not a weed.
I have a couple of them growing in my pond. (y)

Our marsh marigolds will bloom when the rest of the pond is still covered with ice. They don't like it hot though - the leaves get kinda funky. But just ignore it and it'll come back. Or it won't... Ha!

I'm going to be on the look out for the fall flowering variety - thanks @HARO !

I have a lot of "weeds" growing in our yard, if the bees are seen on it it gets to stay. A lot have real pretty flowers.
Agreed! Except dandelions, lol.

PS! Those flowers are beuatiful. Unless they were harmful, I wouldnt pull them either (#jealous! Lol)

Ahh, not here. I grow and lots around grow enough flowers to feed the bees. We dont do dandelions if we can help it. The neighbors have beehives, so we avoid chemicals and pull them up by hand, but provide alternatives. Lots bee loving flowers. I do wish white clover would grow here. I miss it. We have clover but it doesnt flower.

I've got my eyes on a white blooming little flowering thing along a road here.
I don't know how it got there but it might become mine soon
