Your daughter is probably a very smart young lady. Kids used to learn about this in science and biology class. Now they learn other more important things. Here is a link that might be useful:

You might scoop up some eggs and keep them in an aquarium for her to experience the fascinating life cycle of toads. It will be a great family project and a lifetime learning adventure for your daughter.

Dogs might try to eat them but toads have a poisonous secretions from their skin and it pretty much turns off predators......except snakes.....they love toads. We also have a species of Owl here in the south that their main diet is amphibian.
