I have a small tank with lotus, lily and mollies (fish and fries)

It may sound silly but what do you do when its raining cats and dogs.
How do you manage your pond?

Heavy rain here is usually accompanied by hail, and that drains into the pond.
After the storm passes, sometimes 1/2 the pond is covered with floating ice so I check for damage and for any fish that may have been killed.
If it's been a lengthy rainstorm, I'll check KH levels.

I don't really do anything. Just count it as a good water change. I used to check but the rain never bothered the water parameters.

But to entertain myself I am usually working on stuff for the bees, when stuck in the house, they take a lot more care then the pond.

Rain? We call that FREE WATER! haha! We have a 1000 gallon underground storage as part of our pond system so we LOVE to see rain. And for days after a good rain, the sump pump pushes more water to the pond, so it's all good. Twice since we've had the pond we have had too much rain too fast, but we have an overflow that runs to the storm sewer. It's slow (by design) so we just have to give it time to work.

If I can't be outside because of the rain I'm usually indoors researching or planning or preparing for my next project... you never run out of things to do when you are a gardener! Today it's too cold out again, so I'm going to work on getting more seeds started for my vegetable garden. And I just finished ordering the last of my seeds that will go directly into the ground. BRING ON SPRING!

Does fish try to swim out of pond when it's overflow with rain water?

I have rocks blocking the over flow, the water gets through but not the fish.

Like addy, I have the overflow under rocks that will let water out, but keep the fish in.

Thanks, I build tank with smooth edge like tub, Will cement some colorful pebbles from aquarium store on to the edge.

I guess that will work.

Our pond has an overflow pipe, so if there is too much rain (which has happened maybe twice since we have owned this house), it just drains out. Other than that, there's really nothing to do with the pond when it rains. I love when it rains during the winter--it replenishes what the pond loses in evaporation during those really cold days.
