what do you guys think about this? and how much do you think is needed for a 55 gal barrel?? do you think the sponge in the middle is a problem?

I would go with the second one, cleaning all those sponges would be a real pain. I am sure they would get full of stuff. imho

500 bio balls wont fill a bit more than a 5 gal bucket????

which im expecting to have withing the 55 gal barrel.

The bio balls are 1.5 x 1.5 inches, you will have to figure out the volume they will fill.

i would need 350 to fille a bucket, roughly so its either the 400 balls or the strapping for the same price... what do i do?!
