I did a little search on what viewers are looking at here in the forum (I know, I have too much time on my hands). What I found was interesting, and I guess predictable. The number one thread viewed was Ways to Keep Predators Away From Your Koi with 2,248 views. Second, String algae with 2,095 views.

Alarms, rifles and a lucky shot for the predators. The string algae I just manage and time takes care of it. The Koi love it and in fact laid their eggs in it this year.

Two nights ago I found my three recently repotted hardy lillys uprooted. Where im at we are not allowed to trap the bastards unless they are feral cats. Sometimes government is no help at all.

Unfortunately my neighbor is politically connected and I have pets to worry about as well. Otherwise I'd put my EE degree to work and give them the Edison treatment.

1. Don't tell the nosey neighbor
2. Use your EE
3. Bring your critters in at night
Just do it...

BTW cats do not go into water, it is probably a racoon. 110VAC works well with them. Big plastic bag, dumpster at work.

Right now we have a pair of raccoon siblings makin the rounds. Drives the dog nuts and the wife ........ Do motion sensor lights help at all? Probably not.

I have infra red sensors that:
1. Sound an alarm in my bedroom
2. Set off a light strobe at the pond
3. Set off a 105Db siren for 500 milliseconds
4. Lights a spotlamp towards the ponds to illuminate their eyes
5. Rifle next to bed with scope (22 cal CB rounds are quieter than a pellet gun)
6. Nets over all ponds at night and when we are away
7. And just for grins a hoot owl whose eyes light up when it hoots.

I have not had a loss and fortunatley not had to use the rifle yet.

Several years ago, my electric fence took care of a 40 lb raccoon.

You have to act like GB and defend your territory, being an Obama will leave your pond devasted over and over again.

When my neighbors mentioned the siren, I mentioned their 3 dogs that never shut up, that ended that discussion.

I found that coon relocation works. It is not legal in my area but I do not care.
My battery operated fence gives enough of a punch to keep them out too. Haven't had a problem since it was installed a few months ago.
