It could be sick or if it is spawning, then it could also just be hiding to get a break from the overly amorous males, which s fairly typical. Also, goldfish are egg scatterers, so the males chase, bump, harass the females until they release their eggs, then the males release milt fertilizing the eggs.
Yep could just be worn out from all the chasing or it could be egg bound. Never had one here that was so can't help you on what to do if it is. All you can do for now is watch it or if you see it being really bothered by the other fish maybe take it out for a rest.
Looks like a small Oranda which is a type of fancy goldfish. They are fuller bodied than the common or comets. They also are not a hardy or as good swimmers as the common or comet.
It almost looks like that fish is stuck between all the rocks. And the water level looks low. Is that correct or just my old eyes on a small phone?
Either way the fish shouldn't be laying on its side.
This guy has been hiding foe two days in one of the creases in the liner.I got it to come out and soon after 4 males were crashing it all around the pond.I don't understand the laying on it's side. After i took the photo i just touched it and it quickly swam off.
Yep they are trying to spawn w/her and she is worn out. I would move her or make a little floating net ring in the pond w/some floating plants in there to give her some peace for awhile.
Are the others regular comet goldfish? They can really do a number on an oranda. Cordoning her off is the way to go. I’ve just left my net at the waters surface before to codon off a goldfish in the past.
