It's shocking to see these dash cam video s emerging of people fleeing at last minute, mother's sobbing uncontrollably as they drive past massive walls of fire, it's just way too sad. Must quit watching news and go to work. I know I live way down south but I have cousins up in Fort McMurray and lost touch with them over the years. Fort McMurray was a beautiful city with beautiful trees everywhere.

Cold front came through and brought drizzle. Thought it was going to start snowing.
Looks like the cold front hasn't got to Colleen yet.
Doesn't sound like it affected the fire much.

In regards to the fire in Fort McMurray, one thing that has not been mentioned here is that the mandatory evacuation order was issued while a lot of people were at work.
That meant that the people were not allowed to go to their homes and collect anything...including their pets...
There have been over 1600 homes and businesses lost so far to the blaze. 85,000 people evacuated.
This is going to be Canada's largest insurance claim in it's history.

I can't imagine being told that we would have to leave our pets behind to the fire...:(

Also, the winds have shifted south, so the smoke is now going down as far as the USA.
Here is a smoke forecast map: http://firesmoke.ca/forecasts/BSC00CA12/current/

That's too bad about the wildfires..
Had violent hail-rain this AM, with a repeat in the afternoon. Won't have to water for a few days!

It's so sad, I just could not leave my puppies behind, I would have gone back no matter what to save my babies.
Fire in Fort McMurray now grown to over 100 thousand hectares. ... news said that only God can stop this fire now...
