What To Do With Pond In Winter

Ok so i live in Canada and winters here usually get to -20 c my pond has no fish and its 1 shovel head deep one side and two shovel heads deep on another side should i drain water remove pump or leave it?

If you drain and remove the pump you will risk cracking the liner .Even rubber liners cannot take not having water in them .If it is preformed it will be even worse .

Remove the pump, leave the water is my humble opinion. I have a shallow deck pond, it freezes solid, All I do is remove the pump so it does not get damaged. I have a very small pump circulating the water in the deck pond.

yes but didint get my question fully awnsered now it is
do you have plants? if so, what are your plans there?
First winter for me, so I'm a bit concerned they won't make it through the cold months
