Advantages/disadvantages to putting rocks in pond?
I just don't, like the extra water room for the fish. Some do rocks some don't. To me sort of a pain to keep debris free, others love them

I do have bigger lava rocks I can use to hold the gravel back. Would I seal up cracks with waterfall sealant?
No don't seal, it would be a somewhat permeable wall between the bog and pond.

I do believe that would be basalt and granite. They are just fine for your stream.

What reason might that be?
Went to look at them last night and realized they had a lip on the back which is meant for more of a retaing wall and not a freestanding one.

I changed the wall to either this:
2ft high with cap
First off would be the look of an unnatural wall in front of a stream the front might look okay but the back wouldn't. Next would be the cost to build such a wall and then as I mentioned you will need a footer with rebar in order to attach the wall to and keep it from toppling over it will also have to be built perfectly plum. You can just stack these types of walls but without a footer there is no way that they will come out even.

No you don't need two liners. One large liner with rocks stacked to hold back the pea gravel. The bog would be built in the pond liner.

This would be two liners, you don't need to attach them. You would overlap the bog liner onto the pond liner.

Reading over what addy is saying maybe I'm not understanding what the wall is for. Is the wall part of the pond or a wall outside of the pond? As far as the liner is concerned you may be able to find one locally. Worst case you could get some epdm roofing wider than 10 feet.

The wall is to hold back the pea gravel in the bog area

The bog / pond is all part of a already built dry stream bed. Trying to make a bog so it flows into the pond, using the same dry stream bed.

We made a landscape timber wall between the pond and the bog. The liner covered it.
