Needed a bushy plant that would hang over the edge. A guy from the local pond club gave me some of this. He said its more of a weed but serves the purpose. Its actually not that bad of a plant. And I see them on the banks of streams so its native I think. He never said it flowered tho. I do keep it contained so it doesn't spread in case it is invasive. I've had it for about 3 months or so.

I have one that is more pink than violet like yours and the bees go crazy around them. I planted one by the mailbox and I feel bad for the mail lady trying to deliver the mail with all those bees around. They do spread though so you will have to keep it in check. They bloom for a long time after they finish I cut them off and sometimes it will bloom again but not always. You can find wild ones this time of year by lakes.

Here is what mine looked like last year at the mailbox. I cut it back early spring back to the ground.

Ya mine are starting to get more flowering tips. About 4 more have popped up over the weekend. Its a nice plant for that mid to late summer flowers and color. Even seems to flower in the shade since that is where it is. Maybe 4 hours of sun a day.

I bet you can see them when you are out and about in just about any state. Next time you see one along the roadside dig one up and bring it home addy. You do carry a shovel w/ you where ever you go right?

Does anyone know what this is? It is growing in our pond in the neighborhood, the base looks similar to a hyacinth but the leaves are look more like an arrowhead plant. There are black spots on the leaves as well.

Sorry for the crappy pic, taken with my cell phone.

Never seen it before but reminds me of a cross between Pickerel Rush and Taro
