Always had to keep a bucket on board to bail it out when it was used to fish out of. Does not leak a drop now. I painted the bottom and rivet lines with some stuff used to seal metal roofs..on the outside of course.
I started this thread over a year ago when we got the boat pond going, it's doing great.
I have two above ground ponds and talk about the other one in another thread. Getting through winter was a strugle. I know someone who puts a greenhouse over his pond in the winter and heats the inside a little when needed. Works great for him.
I would grow plants hardy for your region, and add a deicer if you have fish. Perhaps a tarp or poly rather than a full greenhouse? Full disclosure, I’m in north Florida, so haven’t really had to deal with it. I just lay my plants down if a frost is expected, and a couple of valuable cold sensitive ones come in for the ”winter”.
