We have approx. 50 goldfish offspring in varying stages of development (from fry to 1-1/2 inchers) in our pond, a ten gallon tank (for fry only), and a 70 gallon trough. Our pond is 1000 gallons and already has five adults (size ranging from 3 inches to 6 inches) and two plecos. Should we be looking for a home for some of our babies or will the population thin naturally in the pond?

My arizona pond balanced itself out, my maryland pond is still expanding ie fry. But less are making it, my experience, so far is that it balances out, but others say they get over stocked with goldies ie fry making it. Next year will give me a better idea on how ours will turn out.

It sounds like since you have a fry only tank you have increased their chance of survival and have 50 likely candidates for adulthood. Start digging!
