Once you get well established plants in your bog you'll realize it'll take more than a good raking to do any kind of damage. I
I take a shovel to them, dig shake toss tons, by mid summer you can not tell I did anything at all.

Great articles... I need to figure out how to make one that doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.
Personally, I think the impact of protein skimming on a freshwater environment is minimal. I think increased aeration is more beneficial.
It never hurts to learn more about a subject.

If you dig up the bog garden just keep in mind that you can release a significant amount of hydrogen sulfide, dissolved, into the pond during the ground Disturbance. Just keep an eye on your fish. If you want to check for a concentration of hydrogen sulfide in the bog bury a penny in the soil. If it turns black, you have some concentration there. I'm not saying it's a serious problem , but you would be prepared if it happens.
