Hey guys, I finally got my trickle filter built.
Recap, I bought 12 fish and a turtle Oct 21st. I didn't get final confirmation from the seller if I was going to be the buyer until 1 week in advance so I setup an intex pool, added some filter fountains and a pond bomb. I've struggled a couple of times with ammonia levels reaching 1ppm to 2ppm. I was told I needed more filter media and to get this setup by you guys. I'm so excited to finally have it in.

I did order some "winter" beneficial bacteria to add- see pic and advise.

I did also buy some winter food for when they're levels are stable and I can give them a bite. And for my other existing pond.

I'd love your feedback.

Here's a video of the filter.

The advantage to trickle filters is the amount of oxygen around the media. This allows bacteria to thrive.
Those Pepsi containers work great. But what is missing is air coming in from the side. Not that it's not finding its way in there but when gases are removed from the water theres little space for it to escape without water from another trickle reintroducing it . If you could place a spacer pike of lava rock in the corners to elevate the tiers it would be beneficial to your set up in a big way.
