Hello...I'm working on putting in a bog filter so I thought I'd "surf" the information I find here before I begin. My koi pond is 12'x7' and approx. 700 gallons. So far the information I've read has been helpful so here goes...

I'm a tad concerned that your "koi" pond is only 700 gallons... that's not much room for koi. How many fish do you have?

You'll never regret building a bog filter - we love ours!

something is off; doing the math, your pond is an average of 12" deep? Gallons = length x width x avg depth x 7.5. Maybe so but that's pretty shallow for just about any locale. And a good rule of thumb is 1000 gallons for one koi, 500 for additional. Koi can get 30+ inches, so...
