nice job on your waterfall and nice looking pond and fish ..The way your waterfall is set up it is like a stream you should plant in it and it will help filter your water and keep the algae down

Very pretty looking pond and stream. I agree w/ sissy you have the perfect setup to add lots of nice plants in the stream bed which will help keep your pond free of algae :yikesu:

If you have koi you need to protect the plants from the koi, they will eat them. so far my goldies, shubies have been ignoring any and all plants.

You can plant some of the grassy green/white sedges in the middle of the stream here and there in the rocks to hold them in place and they will grow nicely in the shallow waters. Also creeping jenny can be tucked in the rocks on the side of the stream and allowed to grow into the waters edge and float.

Get some rush, it will grow in the shallow water, makes a huge root mass, so get a small plant. Nurseries have them as a starter size. Water four leaf clover would look really nice also. I have some growing in pots in the water, and some tucked in the rocks. Looks really nice moving with the water flow.

This is my first year with it jw. I will sink a little deeper into the big pond when cold hits. They say it is hardy. The net says to zone 7 we are borderline 6b-7 so going to give it a try. Sure is pretty.

I didn't sink mine over the winter and the ice covered the pond.....not very thick or very long but maybe that's what did it in. It also had green algae stuck all over it.......don't know why. It was right by the water fall
