Hello,

I've moved into a house with a koi pond and it needs a fair bit of work but I'm stuck on how to fix some of the problems. Would appreciate guidance from some of the older hands so that it can be as beautiful as it can be!

It's quite a big pond (4.5m X 2m) and the problems I'd like help with are:
- concealing the pipework of the waterfall so it looks natural
- cleaning / replacing what the water is running onto (I don't know what my search terms are, let alone options or how to replace)
- concealing the pond liner. When I previously had a pond I was able to do this through staggered stones however this pond has been built with a vertical drop

Thank you for any help you can provide!

Wow that's quite a bit of pipe to hide. Might be able to get some kind of vine type plant to grow around it but not anything too invasive that will take over your whole area. Hope someone will pop in w/some kind of creative ways to hide it. Maybe wrap it w/rock on a roll?

Not sure what you mean on the 2nd one. Are you wanting to replace that whole waterfall thing?

Kinda late now as it would be a lot of work to take out all the top rocks and life up the liner and dig a shelf for lower rocks to be placed on but that's all I did w/mine. Otherwise not sure what to do.

Thank you! On the second point, the waterfall piece looks incredibly discoloured and tatty so I was hoping to spruce it up somehow or replace. But as I'm new to it I don't even know where to start or how I would do it!

Greetings, welcome to the Forum.

How about a trellis-screen with a climbing vine on it?

It's 15ft across and then 5-10ft across in depth dependent on where measured. Thank you!

Nice back yard and i think your going to like my suggestion. YOU CAN MAKE A CEDAR CHASE. . build similar to a flow box but that is secured to your fence or it could be self supporting. place the plastic pipe in the chase / window box . OR
what i would do is have the water from the filter dump into the cedar window box that is open top and the water runs like the old sluthes where water was directed to water wheels by wooden pipes per say. if you use gorilla glue and screws the wood once it gets wet will swell and become water proof

I am going to say that simply building a new waterfall is going to be the best way to go.

You could add a waterfall box for water to spill out of, along with using real rocks rather than whatever fiberglass insert is in there currently. I personally don’t thing it will be that much more work than replacing a part each time you want to fix/change something.

As far as hiding the pond liner goes, can you simply raise the water level to conceal it? If not you could add rock on a roll to the sides to at least make them a natural color and texture.
