just thought of how you can clear yourself of snakes... HEAT....... GO TO PET STORE AND GETa heated rock and place mouse traps all around it . all snakes can sense heat . if nothing else you'll know where to find them
Might try that, they do like heat. But mouse traps, catching birds frogs etc.

How about heated grow pad under the snake trap, partially buried to make the entry ground level.......hummmmm might work. With eggs inside...I have the heated grow pad, the trap, the eggs, now need to dig a bit

On a FB koi keeping site, one pond owner has removed 18 snakes and taken them ten miles away. This person said they sat in a chair by the pond at night with a flash light......sounds horrible to me......no idea how the snakes were actually caught. Wonder if they're like frogs and get " blinded" if you shine a flashlight in their eyes?
Our ground around the pond is so irregular. One side a 4 foot wall of rocks, one side the bog, one end just a small area between loop ponds and big pond, other end waterfall and a rock slope.

Snakes are bad here . I already relocated 3 from my veggis garden . Tiny ones about 6 inchs long or a little longer . Push them into a bucket and took them across the road to the stream down there . Geeze addy it must have been the mild winter and early spring

I don't prefer cats, we have feral ones around. Rather have the land snakes, not the water snakes.
