...she rests.
Yesterday it hit 90 degrees hot, as I sat and pulled weeds all day. The pond has finally established a stabalized and comfortable environment for it's inhabitants. the Goldies have gotten over their shyness and are getting along with the turtles, too.
I built a stone prayer/gratitude/meditation resting place, where i can sit and reflect on how fortunate i am. While, at the same time send vibrations of love and peace, in thought and mind energy as far as it will go... :heartpump:

of course, i can't help but get my hands dirty, every now and then...like daily :blueflower:

Wow! Good job! You're welcome to come fix up my pond & yard ANY day! The fencing looks very nice. I especially liked the "no parking" sign and the metal yard bird!

Hey thanks you guys. I wish I could have more of a natural woodsy look, but I have a Lab that would not stay out of the water...eat my turtles....and then go after the fish, when I'm not looking. That's how Labs are I think, sneaky, stuborn and happy...all the time. They never grow up, at least all mine have been like that. Good dogs, though, even if they think they can fool you sometimes...they leave no doubt when it comes to love.
So, I had to build a fence to keep her out and turtles in. Wanted to still be able to see the pond, too. Put a fence around the garden, too, to keep her from digging around to bury her bone. But it doesn't keep the racoon from making a mess out of my squash plant. I guess I'm gonna have to try and trap that thing. I don't know how that's gonna work, with all the cats showing it there's a trap...'Hey, look at me, coon... I can't get out'.
This is my first pond and so far the learning experience has been fairly easy. I wanted to try and keep it simple and, once it gets grown in, kinda carefree. That's one reason for not having trees around the pond, at least for now. I do have 2 other gigantic trees, on the property, that leave plenty debri allready. Gonna cut them back this year, before fall.
And, I live in the city...talk to my neighbors through the backyard fence, and thought long about how this could be an investment while still having what I want. Which started out, really, just to be a simple little backyard turtle pond that I've wanted for them for nearly 20 years. (All summer long it was this huge, and I mean giant, mud pit that had to be filled in before I could do this.) But then, I got started and could not stop creating, something of what was becoming an addiction, was also going to be....for me. Now, what that sign means is...No More Ponds!

Actually, there are 3 water spots, but only 2 seperate ponds. The larger pond has an upper level bog that spills into the pond. I'm trying to grow plants in the bog, but still learning which plants will do best. Starting to fill in a bit more now. The little pond is kind of like what a jail might be to a turtle that can't control his bothersome behaviour...the place Dog Bone Ninja spends alot of his time in.
