My pond guy loves the Ultima II filter. I plan to get the one that's rated for 20,000 gallons even though my pond will be more like 6-7,000 gallons. We also plan to get a strong pump to hopefully avoid the filter media sticking. Please advise your thoughts. Thank you for your time.

out dated from what i have read . seems the latest greatest is having a air blower 2 hp being optimum. this way when it is cleaning time the air agitates the crud that has been caught by the beads . this requires a great deal less water and time to clean the filter. Also i'm not sold on K1 asa a bead filter media your trying to filter fine particles out of the water with a bead filter not be a biological filter. nothing wrong with both but having a bead filter with BEADS and then even a home made shower filter you will have the best of both worlds

Same principle, they both have water dumped at the top where they have the water fall across the surface and has air vents coming in from the sides. Showers are generaly 3 or 4 trays tall and 24 to 60 inches long or longer. Trickle filters are generally much smaller with no vents. i'm in Ct

I should have added to look at Sacramento koi . someone was just asking the same not sure if it was you or not but i have never seen a bad review on their system. That and koi market seems to have an interesting unit as well. Again a 2 hp air pump seems to be the way to go

Are these easy to work on for a novice? Last a long time? Better or worse than the Sacramento koi product?

Here are some pics of my temporary pool and new fish. And a couple of pics of my current 600 gallon pond.

Can't say one way or another i know a koi dealer I use always mentions one client that he admires their pond and that it was a sacrament unit. but I have heard several others speak highly of them. I have not had any dealings with the lim unit but I emailed underwater to see which media comes with the unit.

Bead filters are simple to use a 6th grader can master it. I do see a couple nice features to sacramento both being a visual port . one on top so you can see when the beads are dirty and when you start back washing you can see when the air has done its job. The other is inline so you can see when your done flushing the system.

Do you by any chance have any connections to order some of this at cost?
