Comet / Koi spawning?

Finally started introducing fish to my new 2000ish gallon pond. I put in 2 comet goldfish a week ago, and 3 baby koi today. Within an hour of the koi being in the pond, one of the comets is nonstop rubbing/swiping against it and will swim alongside it. It definitely looks like spawning behavior but how is this possible with a brand new fish? Does the male comet know if a female has eggs or not?

Sounds like the comet is being a bully! Koi don't usually spawn until 3 years of age. Guess your comets don't care for their new pond mates.
