Lotus looks like it's August!

Our lotus plant looks like it's August and it's early June. The leaves are browning and curling. We have been adding Microbe Lift and Algaefix to control the algae, but we also used these liquids last summer without issue. Temps are a bit higher than usual for June in our area, but surprised by how bad the leaves look. Any thoughts?

Is it potted, how much sun does it get and did you fertilize it this spring?

@Koipondsaregreat! Hello and welcome! Why not go over to our “introductions” topic and tell us a little about your pond. Maybe some pictures of your lotus would help, as well. I don’t grow those, so can’t help you, but a lot of members here do grow lotus.

We are located in Southern Illinois.

This is only my second year with lotus, so I'm far from an expert. But at this time both this year and last, my lotus leaves were looking a little sad. When the big heat came in July, I think that is when they started perking up. No flowers for me yet. Some good looking leaves on one variety and some puny browned leaves on another. I am hopeful that it's just not quite their peak time yet!
