Can't be sure but I think I went in to remove the tops of the water lilies about 3 weeks ago. The level is now down to about 18'' at the shallow end.

I too brought in about 10 babies for the winter and just slowly let the water warm up in their bucket and then slowly added aquarium water into bucket until the 2 temps matched... Then in they went and are they ever happy!
