Should pellets be crushed

Most of our Koi are about 7 years old, last spring we had a few babies. My husband insists on crushing the pellets we feed the fish.....he says the smaller pieces go to the bottom where he thinks the fish prefer to eat...should we be feeding them the pellets without being crushed.

As long as the pellets are small enough for all fish to eat...theres absolutely no reason to crush them...but if all the fish can't eat them full size crushing or chopping some up is the right thing to do, in lieu of buying some smaller pellets.
