Overview
Fish / Plant Stock
We currently have ten Koi in our 7500 gallon pond. We will have no more than 13-14. Most of our koi are between 17-24". Several were born in the pond. We have had koi babies every year except last year which was our first year in the new pond. Our old pond was 17 years old when we replaced it in 2013. One of our Koi is 19 years old this year. We give all most of our koi babies away each year unless we really like them. This year in 2014 we gave away about 35 already and moved about 15 into our indoor pond and those will be given away in the spring. We have about ten more babies left in the outdoor pond which will be caught in the spring and given away. Most of our Koi go to fellow members of our local pond club. The Delaware Valley Water Garden Society. www.dvwgs.com Great club and we always have new members looking for koi. We know most will wind up as heron food, but what are you going to do? We like picking out our best babies and keeping them awhile and see how they turn out. We keep some a few years and give them away. We buy a koi once in awhile to upgrade our quality. Maybe we'll give them away eventually too. Hopefully we'll continue to upgrade our quality and hopefully have a whole pond of our own fish someday.
