Buttonbush?

Has anyone planted buttonbush in their pond? I love the pincushion flowers. I’ve had a small shrub planted in the ground for three years and it hasn’t grown at all, despite watering and giving it a tree diaper. I’ve read that it grows in ponds in the wild.

IDK about planting IN the pond, but maybe as a bog or rain garden plant.

I have never used it but often considered it. I've heard a lot of great things about this native specie.
I do think it'd probably grow best in a bog.
