Welcome to the November Photo of the Month! :snaphappy:

Here are the rules:
  • The theme this month is Birds.
  • No more than one submission per member.
  • The photo must be your own (although not necessarily taken in your own garden)
  • If you would like to make a submission, please reply to this topic and attach your photo (with a description if you want).
  • Please submit your photos no later than October 20th.
  • Once all submissions have been made, there will be a poll in the forum to select the winner.
  • Please only reply to this topic if you are making an entry. Please do not make any comments on the other photos, you will have the opportunity to make comments when the poll is released on October 21st.
The winner will be announced on November 1st, and the winning photo will be displayed on the forum main page during November.

Okay, I'll play. It was so hard to choose a picture for this contest - I have a camera set up at my dining room window for the sole purpose of taking pictures of the wild birds in the yard. We have a very natural looking small trout pond (roughly 20 x 15 feet and 5 feet is the deepest hole) which attracts an unbelievable amount of birds of all species. We have recently decided to incorporate koi. We have planted over 100 trees and shrubs, in a normal size yard, for bird habitat - food (berries, insects etc.), foraging, nesting, protection etc. In the fall, we have all the juvenile bohemian and cedar waxwings that arrive in flocks of hundreds, descending on the pond and trees. In this picture, these two are after the hawthorne berries ...
