Outdoor lighting can get very expensive. Particularly those low voltage leds lights that will sit in the water. In my opinion they are worth every nickle.
The pond transforms your yard from a sea of grass, to bringing life right up close and personal to your patio.
As much as a pond changes your day to day view of your setting. Lights at night take it to the next level . One that's almost magical. I don't think there has been one person who has come to my yard at night that hasn't said I feel like I'm on vacation at a resort.
I personally am using Aquascapes low volt led lighting but only the puck, and spotlight , 1 watt and 3 watt lights. One word of mention and I have not tested this theory knowing what the end result eventually will be. Is to make sure the lights are below the ice line of the pond.. ice can destroy concrete so why temp fate.
I will add one thing where building your pond running some flex conduit to be able to pull your wires through is very beneficial so that day when the light do burn out you don't have to move rocks and boulders to pull out the old and fish in the new.
The other lighting i take full advantage of is solar landscape lighting. There's no electrical charges and it truely does give the feel of a resort right in your back yard. My wife and I have not gone on vacation now for 7 years as the hastles of airports, car rentals, hotels and some of the people you meet along the way, have nothing to offer that a nice barbecue and friends cant blow away.
I just blew off the dust off my camera gear and plan on taking some quality shots of the pond at night. But for now these will have to do.
So let's have others show us there pond at night and how it transforms there home.
