Hello! I came across this forum when I did an internet search about ponds and I’m thrilled!

I think I’m finished digging and am now working on adding the various layers. I’ve been loving the process!

It’s going to be somewhat “natural” without filters or pumps, following advice from the book Building Natural Ponds by Robert Pavlis. I’m hoping to attract lots of dragonflies and frogs! We’ll see.

I’m excited to read up in here on what others have done!

Hello and welcome!

You may find that some sort of water movement is helpful, even if it’s just a small pump fountain.

Welcome!
What are the dimensions of your project?
Are you using a liner?
Some pictures would be nice. We enjoy watching pond projects in the making!
Any questions, just ask.

I enjoyed reading that book! I was going to go the ultra natural route but we live in an area with TONS of mosquitoes. I decided to do a hybrid with an intake bay and wetland filtration to keep the water moving. I will have lots of plants in the pond too. I'm hoping to attract wildlife and frogs and dragonflies to help with the mosquitoes. Enjoy the forum! You will get lots of great advice!

In digging your shelves . Let your rocks determine the size of the selves both in width and height. Not the other way around where you try and make the rocks fit your shelf

Excellent advice. I see sooooo many people make this mistake. Planning shelf depth and width without even knowing what kind of rocks they plan to use.
