Pond is 300+ gallons up for almost a year. 4 shubunkin introduced last July and all four made it through the winter. Two of them are fat. Is that normal? They were fat last year too and I thought they would be skinny when winter was over but they are still fat. Here’s a pic of just one of the fat ones and one of the normal looking ones.

They both look normal to me. My comets were thin when I bot them from Petco, but a year later they are tubby and three inches longer. Just added a few new Shubunkins to the pond two weeks ago, and they are already starting to fill out. I think they just don't feed them very much in the stores. I would just say your fish are well cared for like mine.(y)

Sorry, but can’t tell much from the pics. Your “fat” ones might be females. Female GF tend to be a little heavier than the males. As your water warms up, watch for spawning behaviors such as chasing and bumping. But also beware, if you end up with babies, that your pond is small and GF grow fast — keep an eye on your water quality.

I have a good fish store that said they would take whatever surpluss fish I end up with. I have catfish and angels breeding in my tank as well.
