It does fine, but I wouldn't be planting any Willows if you want to maintain the integrity of the Bentonite seal.
At the depth my pond is, we have a heavy clay content to the soil.
I think the occasional perforation of the benonite shouldn't be a problem.

I'm not sure. My water supply is limited.
At any rate, it's looking like this is going to be a dry year so I won't be making any changes until I'm certain of more precipitation. All fish and invertebrates seem healthy and well fed for now.
