How does one begin the process of setting up a pump and filter in a pond? Besides taking it out of the box....what now? I am new to this hobby!! I purchased a Laguna Power Jet Pump and a Laguna Power Flo Filter. The pond has a good eco-system already, but the water is very murky. I removed a load of overgrown lillies and hornwort that had taken over the pond. Previous owner never used a fitler or pump???? What now?

You will have to build or buy a filter
Run a 1 1/2" hose from the pump to the filter
put a 2" return line back to the pond

That will get you going and you can modify it any time

The power flo filter is like a 'pre' fileter I am assuming. Like Dr Case said, you will need to have some sort of external filter to truly help with water clarity. There are numerous forums here that have instructions on building home made filters (its usually cheaper this way!) Good luck, and happy ponding.

If the previous owner never had a filter you may want to clean the pond before you install the new filter.
