Curious which would make a better pump? (for a water fountain feature).

I've heard some negative views of SmartPond pumps but haven't heard much about Alpines. Anyone have any experience with them?

From what I am reading though, it really sounds like the best bet for a fountain only is to have a pump with electronic flow control. May have to go with another OASE pump I guess. They are spendy. I wonder if they are really worth it.

How big is your pond and what size pump do you have now?

It's pretty tiny. Only 220 gallons. Currently I have a Beckett 650GPH pump. It's one of my older spares that I'm hoping to replace soon.

I think I figured out the best pump to go with for my situation however. Since I'm mainly getting it for a foam jet fountain water feature, I may be best going with something like this 1400 GPH Oase pump. Designed for fountains. Plus I had an Oase Aquarius 2000 before that I liked until the cord got bit up. Which reminds me. I need a way to protect my pond pump cords from critters....

My pond doesn't have any fish or anything so I think something like this might work well with electronic flow control.
