Water lily pads

Hi all,
So I notice that this year my lily pads are looking puny. I have had a few blossoms and my lotus is thriving, also the pond is clearer than it's ever been so I'm wondering what's going on with the lilies. We have had a ton of rain over the last few months so i'm wondering if it's that or if there just isn't enough nutrients in the pond to feed the lilies since it is so clear.
Should I test the water, fertilize the lilies, or just figure it's a slow year for pads and leave it alone? Anyone else having this issue?

Waterlilies are heavy feeders. You might consider fertilizing just them.

1"-2 cubic" of any well balanced fertiliser suitable for veggy bed, released slow under the lily will get it rocking again for a few weeks

Thanks! Can I use those fertilizer sticks instead? Easier to just plop them into the pots.

That's what I use - sticks or tablets.
