That's great. I wonder, besides the UV fighting the symptom of green water algee does it also provide a benefit of reducing pathogens?

Yes, if a UV unit is large enough it can be utilized as a sterilizer, but to kill all pathogens it would need to be quite large. The flip side of this coin is that it will also kill many beneficial organisms also. Pathogens rarely cause a real issue with fish as long as the fish are healthy....proper feeding and water quality the two main factors for accomplishing this.
A UV does not 'fight the symptom' of green water algae, it renders the algae unable to reproduce. The cause of an algae bloom remains in the pond and continues to increase.
