I love that idea! So much I tried it myself, I brought home buckets and buckets of sand from Lake Tahoe so I could have a place to sink my toes in the sand. It lasted about two years, lots of it got tracked in the house, most of it in the grass. Might work better if young kids aren't around.

Peter, the sand I use is coarse sand. It's not like on the beach or probably at Lake Tahoe either but it holds in place better I think. Especially on an incline, like on the coral rock perimeters. It's not all that pleasant to sink my feet into. It's like sandpaper. Maybe if I got some mason sand to put on top of the beach it might be better.
