I have a whole house I let Bees live in. The only thing I don't like is the spatter on the siding but it's worth it. I love Bees, even the mean ones,

Thes guys sont do the hive thing. Not sure where they keep the worms at, you see them fly in the hole with the larva, then seal it up.

They put the larvae in there so the baby bee larv. has a food supply till it leaves the nest as a bee , one larvae and one baby bee per nest.

The other day I heard something banging on the house, a woodpecker was getting the larva bees out and eating them, I quickly had to move the houses to safty. I think same thing happened last year but I was t home when it did.

I have two houses sitting on our front walk way right next to the house not following any of the "hanging rules". The native bees have been loading them up, always see some making nests. The wood pecker won't come that close to snack on them. This spring a lot of them emerged saw a bunch of nest droppings. Now refilled.

I put a Bee hotel out last year and it filled up fast. It was either Home Depot Lowes has this one for like $12. You can’t make one for that. They charge alot for the tubes. Come on Spring
I purchased the same model as yours and put it under the eaves on an east-facing wall. So far no bees. Those types of bees may be uncommon in my area, thought I have seen at least seven or eight different native bee species in my garden. At one point one of the tubes was filled, but I think that may have been a spider nest, That is fine too. I'm happy to encourage spiders if not bees.

I do have California Carpenter Bees (both Xylocopa californica and X. varipuncta) that nest in the eaves of my house, which is also fine.
