We stopped to help a snapper once - hubby picked up a rather long, thick stick to help guide him to safety. The turtle reared up on his back legs, hissed at him and snapped the stick like it was a toothpick. Needless to say, he got back in the car and we drove on.

We see turtles crossing the roads here quite a bit, and it's my mission to help them across (but only when it's safe to do so), and to educate people.

Well that is the meaning of "pull over when it's safe and then help the turtle across" aka don't just walk out into a busy road and think every other driver will "understand and stop for you"

I help at least one a week here where I live. In the last week of May alone I counted 8 that were killed and 4 I helped across including the one that was injured and he is in the rescue now acting like a total ass lol they don't exactly "appreciate" the help all the time
