Good evening everyone,
Can you over size a pump for a pond? Would it hurt if it was a little over kill. Thanks.

Unless it’s cavitating from not enough inlet water or causing leak issues from overflow, no I don’t think you can oversize. You’ll just be wasting energy on flow the pond doesn’t need.

If your pump ends up too big, just put a ball valve on the outlet and close it until you have the flow you want. That will save a little energy, too.
