Wondering if a galvanized filter tank is ok for the fish?
In my area I knew someone that used to bring me nice young goldfish bred and raised in their galvanized horse trough on the farm so I thought they cannot be all bad. It seems it can depend on the water, tank condition and water changes/ volume which would reduce toxicity of any accumulation. My area has hard water with high pH which apparently reduces the corrosion in the tank, per one of the links, and might explain the better outcomes I have heard, none of which were long term.

Found out my sister in law is also using one for her summer pond since she prefers the look, only been going a year so far.

According to this information it is not recommended:

https://www.behrens.com/is_galvanized_steel_safe/ Manufacturer article, does not mention fish, tank condition an issue.

I like the boat with the pond. At first I thought it was a decoration but looks like you can paddle around out there?

I originally bought that stock tank to keep my fish in when I resealed my pond and had no problem with almost 100 gold fish in it for a month.
Did run a filter system.

Zinc in the galvanized tank isn’t acutely toxic to fish, it is chronic and will take time for the fish to show signs of it, as a filter in a large pond it may be diluted enough. Using it short term for a month or even a year for fish, they wouldn’t show signs of poisoning from zinc.

I heard the dangers of a metal tank depends if you have acidic or alkaline water. I can not remember which is safer.........
