would lemon hariwake koi be considered rare?

in the start of last summer i had bought what appeared to be a 5 inch lemon hariwake koi and added it to my pong..i bought it from another person who had it in his aquarium so i don't think it was a pure japan bred koi, most likely just from a common petshop. unfortanately i added him to the pond a little too early and we had a major snow storm blow in and he died due to cold shock, i looked everywhere but could not find another one, would they be considered rare?

Maybe rare in Canada but not here.
You won't find many in pet stores but a lot of koi dealers have them.

thank you DrDave, and that is really unfortunate, i guess i will have to keep on hopeing to find one somewhere, i don't care if its japanese bred or from a pet store i just love those colors!

See if there are any Koi clubs or shows in your area. It might be worth a look or a day drive to find what you want.
