For a dirt berm around the pond, what is the max. height you can go?

And what is a good height - width ratio for a dirt berm?

Reason I'm asking is that when I installed my cinderblock collar, I think I made it a few inches higher than the original rock ledge had been -- so the top of my pond is going to be higher than what I planned for as far as the dirt berm goes.

I don't mind the extra height -- it puts it more above-grade [less chance of liner-float], but I just want to be sure the berm is going to be structurally sound.....

My guess is if you don't exceed a 45 degree angle you should be okay. There are so many factors that will influence erosion I think it is hard to say. I made my berms around my pond from clay I dug up and then covered with dirt and mulch. Also threw in some plants which looks nice and prevents erosion.
