The oil pans are great for water lilies, since their roots like to stay shallow (IOW, their roots don’t need depth), while the rhizome moves horizontally through the substrate. Not sure how they would work with other plants.

If you buy from Walmart won't they deliver it to your car? I thought they had special parking spots and then you call them to let them know you are waiting outside. At least it was that way in the beginning.

@addy1 How big are the Walmart oil pans you use? I found 7 quart, 15'' diameter and 7'' high oil pans on Walmart website - are these the ones your use? Or bigger ones?

I know this is an old post but i just used scented cat litter in my floating plant pots.Will it kill my fish?
