someone, maybe 11 of them, love corn on the cob. They are too cute. I should have videotaped the entire pond for you all to see, but didn't think of it. I'll do it again tomorrow and post.

That is really cute and I'm going to see if my Koi will like corn on the cob. I just froze 2 dozen ears of sweet corn!

How much corn do they get off the ear? They don't have teeth, did they just knock some kernels off with their lips?

Koi love corn, problem is it works the same way with fish as it does with us. So If you find kernels in your filter don't be surprised. In other wards, just give as a small treat. Honey Nut Cheerios works just as well and is actually a lot more nutritious that corn.

@Buckry, we actually ate the corn on the cob and gave them the left overs to nibble on, so it was easy for them. OMG, they go nuts over them.
@fishin4cars, good to know and I don't want the kernels making a mess out of my filter. My koi also enjoy Cherrios, watermelon, orange slices, heads of lettuce etc. I think my koi are too busy eating rather than spawning...no babies for me this year!!!
Enjoy your day everyone!! Heidi

Heidi, Some other good foods to feed, Zuchinni squash, spinach, sweet peas ( remove the outer shell) lemons, grapefruit, (actually any citrus fruit), canalope, dew mellon, and cucmbers. Be sure and remove all the seeds. seeds can be dangerous to the intestines to koi. Also a note, iceberg lettuce has virtually no nutritional value. fancy leaf, baby spinach, and romain does have nutritional value. Nibbling on the cob of the corn is not only a treat but it's excersise as well. Whole kernel corn is where the mess starts taking place.

Ok, that makes sense, they were eating half eaten kernels that were probably just hanging on by a thread. Cool.
