AH... happy Friday, got off work at 4, went home, kidnapped my children and went mothers day shopping. We brought home a bunch of flowers for (their) mom and then spent the evening planting them around the house. nothing for the pond... it pretty full, and everything is sprouting pretty good, my cannas have popped up and are between 6-12 inches tall already. Still waiting for the elephant ears to sprout, i planted them later.

Now I'm just enjoying a drink or 12... do need to get up and moving in the morning to take a trip to the dump.

[sub]Fence!!![/sub]

[sub][sub]https://www.gardenpondforum.com/topic/9269-got-the-new-fence-in/page__p__120175#entry120175[/sub][/sub]

[sub]Otherwise not much, i do seem to have lost one of my koi, i just noticed this weekend. I seriously have no idea where he could have gone, no body, unless he trapped himself in between some rocks. [/sub]

[sub]Never see coons around our place as there is so many dogs in the area, no big birds, really im not worried about predetors at all, so the only thing i can think of is he got himself stuck somewhere and i just havent found him yet. [/sub]

No cats from the neighborhood? What about an owl or snake? You wouldn't see the things that fly or creep around your pond at night...............some are smooth operators unlike the raccoons! Hoping tho that you find it safe among the rocks.

I've seen one cat, siamese, well fed, never seen it near the pond, don't think it has to work too hard for food. Never seen or heard owls, or snakes at my place either. My guess is he got stuck somewhere and died. The other fish are all fine, act like nothing happened, the only reason i noticed it was gone was because we had guests over and i was pointing out all of the koi... and went wait... there should be one more...

I FOUND HIM!!! missing for a week, and turns up this morning. Last night the pond level was getting pretty low, so i ran the hose for a while and filled it back up. This morning i got outside before work to feed the fish, and i see a silver fish at the other end of the pond, i look down, and the silver fish I KNOW is there is right in front of me, sure enough the one that was missing is back.

He is beat up, part of his tail fin is missing, he has scratches all over him. My rock shelf has a little "berm" so that the rocks wont fall into the deep part of the pond so easy, he must have gotten in between some rocks, realized he couldn't get out, and me filling the pond back up allowed him to get loose again. I had even looked around in the some of the cracks i could see, but never saw him, i cant believe he survived a week, but glad he's back, even if he isn't the prettiest fish in the pond. This morning he was pretty skittish, wouldn't come to the surface, but after work he was swimming around and eating just like the rest of them.
