do bird's carry parasites that affect fish

anybody know. we have birds, bluejays mostly, that like to use our filter as a birdbath. gotta wonder if we should discourage this.

yes, put a cover on it of some type. If the birds poop in the water, it can harbor all sorts of negative bacteria that goes in the pond.

I get a lot of birds bathing on one of my water falls
I would only be worried if my pond was real small
I do have covers on all of my filters to keep every thing out

i did not know this. my mom feeds the birds out side and we use to have
a flock of pigens that use to sit on the tree over the pond and they use to poop
in the pond but knock on wood they dont come any more because
she cut back feeding the birds and i guess who ever had them got rid of them
