Fish behaviour

we have small goldfish in our pond and we put a large one in now the small fish keep swimming alongside the large one is the do you think it is getting distressed or is this normal behaviour?

Sounds like he's happy to find someone just like himself! All of our fish swim together - it's natural fishybehavior. We added a couple new ones last week and the first thing we watch for is to make sure they are part of the group.

You can tell - one fish would be chasing another one and biting it. Goldfish / koi don't get aggressive though - probably the only common "outdoor" fish you'd see that with would be a catfish.

I think @TAHOE might be right!
Could be spawning behavior and let the games began as you may find yourself w/lots of new little ones if they don't eat all the eggs.
